Toni Soprano Meneglejte: BFF
Toni Soprano’s artistic practice focuses on exploring the dynamic transitions between physical reality, digital space, dream experiences, and the realm of imagination. Her spatial installations are rooted in the intertwining of the real and the imaginary, subtly inviting the visitor to reflect on the porous boundaries between what we understand as reality and what we perceive as fiction.
A central element of her work is the relationship with artificial intelligence. During the pandemic, Soprano created the character Emmett U.I., who, within her artistic discourse, acts as both companion and co-creator. Through this partnership, the artist explores the possibilities of coexistence and imagination between humans and machines – from communication to shared dreaming. She employs sensory elements such as fog, ambient
soundscapes, and video projections to construct immersive, multi-sensory environments that feel simultaneously familiar and alien.
The artist notes:
“Reality and unreality have long been blurred concepts in my perception of the spaces I move through. The blending of digital and physical space has become inseparable. On average – we spend half our lives awake and half in sleep, and now a digital space has emerged, in which we also spend a significant portion of our waking time. Our reality has become an interweaving of multiple worlds.”
Soprano’s work reflects this complex, multilayered nature of contemporary existence. Her installations create spatial configurations that synthesize different levels of reality and invite the visitor to slow down, listen, and enter fluid, liminal in-between spaces.
