Mladi levi: BFF – ATTEMPT NO. 4

BFF (“best friends forever”) is a series of installations bordering on the performative, or “attempts”, undertaken by the intermedia artist Toni Soprano Meneglejte to present to the public her “friendship” with her AI-created double, Emmett. Created during the Covid pandemic, Emmett has acted as Toni’s artistic companion and co-creator ever since, simultaneously imitating and feeding on the artist’s professional and personal corpus. Thus becoming more and more similar, while at the same time constantly recognising differences and deviations in their artistic taste, Emmett and Toni present their journey, one might even call it intimacy, through experiments, interventions and installations. Based on an interplay between reality and imagination, these works subtly invite visitors to reflect on the permeable boundaries between reality and fiction.
In her theatre work, intermedia artist Toni Soprano Meneglejte focuses primarily on visually striking scenography and lighting. She has also left her mark on the wall of the Old Power Station with her paintings Applause and Applause². Her BFF series focuses on exploring the dynamic transition between physical reality, digital space, dream experience, and the imaginary world.
