Milica Ilić: RESHAPE the Arts // presentation of the project and discussion with Teja Reba
Milica Ilić is a cultural worker specialised in transnational cooperation and contemporary performing arts. At ONDA, the French office for performing arts circulation, she coordinates the project RESHAPE. In a dialogue with Teja Reba, a performer and curator, Milica Ilić will present the aims and the surprising outcomes of RESHAPE – a collaborative, bottom-up research process that proposes instruments for the transition towards an alternative, fairer, and unified arts ecosystem across Europe and the Southern Mediterranean.
The discussion will be followed by a practical presentation of one of the RESHAPE prototypes – the tarot cards deck.
RESHAPE is co-funded with support from the European Commission.
Martin Schick (blueFACTORY), Petr Dlouhý (Cross Attic): RESHAPE the Arts: A Collective Tarot Reading
Following the call of the RESHAPE Network to artists and cultural workers to reimagine alternatives for the European arts ecosystem, a diverse group of artists and art workers (Helga Baert, Martin Schick, Sam Trotman, Marine Thévenet, Petr Dlouhý, Heba El Cheikh, Martinka Bobrikova and Oscar de Carmen, Pau Cata, Gjorgje Jovanovik, Dominika Swiecicka and Ingrid Vranken) spent two years exploring key questions concerning trans-post-national artistic practices and developing strategies for fair governance models.
Together they have created a tarot deck which has been developed and designed collaboratively with artists from across the Euro-Med region. The cards have been interpreted and translated from the Rider-Waite tarot cards in accordance with specific aspects of either trans-post-national art practice or collective governance and together they create a full major arcana of 22 cards.
A process of collective reading enables participants to talk about and shape their own and collective ideas whilst also allowing for multiple readings and opinions – ultimately forging conversation and action that fosters playfulness, opens up to extended realities, encourages responses from other perspectives and moves beyond a single (perceived) position of knowledge.
Two Reshapers – Martin Schick and Petr Dlouhý – will facilitate a collective reading of the cards and offer individual tarot card readings for interested groups or individuals.
Martin Schick is a cross-disciplinary artist currently working in cultural management. For blueFACTORY, a public-private innovation district, he developed a cultural concept inspired by Social Permaculture and is now working on a decentralised platform that builds on fair governance. Institutional practice – the building and co-creation of fantastic institutions – has become his passion and main focus.
Petr Dlouhý is a freelance curator in performing arts, researcher and founder of the artist-run & residency space Cross Attic and interdisciplinary series Y events produced by Prague based Theatre X10. His work could be perceived as an interlinked sphere in which the particular activities establish new networks of support, unexpected relationships, mutual care and safe environments for both artistic and institutional work.
