Snježana Premuš and Rok Vevar: Poíesis of Self – Meandering
A desire and a meander. Does the path change the desire?
A meander as an existential space where desires, needs, ideas, the path to oneself, with others and more can be produced …
Poíesis of Self is a project that unfolds a work of art as a process and allows viewers to be actively involved in an experience that opens up to the whole body and not just the gaze.
Poíesis of Self gives up the tendency towards a particular dance style, which usually refers to the question of dance identities (What is a particular dance?), as it is primarily interested in what a dance or body can do and in what way it can do it.
In this sense, the choreographic dance composition meets the sensory body composition (what our body and its movement are made of), and last but not least, the social composition, as it connects the audience in the experience in a different way than classical formats (dance – theatre). This time, it extends the idea staged during the walk into an urban space.
Namely, the search for various forms of documenting and of performative actions has become a topic that arises directly from this way of working. It brings to the fore the hidden continuity of choreographic work as a practice, and the importance of revealing intangible bodily processes with the participating artists and the audience.

In 2018, it was presented in the form of a documentary exhibition Body as an Archive at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova / Prepih, in cooperation with NDA Slovenia. In 2020, the publication Poíesis of Self / dance-phenomenological reading and workbook was published.
In 2021, we continue the Walking Practice: the way we organise, together with others, bodily experiences (a collection of thoughts, feelings, perceptions, reactions) produced by a particular embodiment or space.
