WEDNESDAY CLUB

Have you ever wondered why contemporary theatre doesn’t follow the dramatic triangle that you’re expected to memorise in school for a grade? Why, in a contemporary art museum, alongside paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints, you might also encounter a sound recording, a video, a site-specific installation, or even a pile of “trash”? Or why contemporary dance performances seem so fond of rolling around on the floor?

Would you like a glimpse behind the scenes of cultural organisations and an opportunity to engage with them directly? Welcome to Wednesday Club – a series of monthly gatherings for secondary school students at the intersection of contemporary visual and performing arts.
Meetings will take place every third Wednesday of the month, from September to May, at 5:00 PM, either at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM) or at Bunker’s premises. Before each meeting, we will attend a contemporary theatre or dance performance, or visit a contemporary visual arts exhibition. The in-person gathering will then be dedicated to analysing what we have seen, discussing it, and reflecting on its themes and structures.
Wednesday Club is jointly developed by MG+MSUM and Bunker with the aim of connecting different forms of contemporary art—particularly contemporary visual and performing arts—and of expanding knowledge beyond the boundaries of formal education. The club is led by Klara Drnovšek Solina (Bunker) and Kristjan Sedej (MG+MSUM).

The Wednesday Club participation formula:
one performance or exhibition per month + one in-person meeting = a fresh understanding of the world of contemporary arts.
Participation is free of charge. To register, contact us at izobrazevanje@mg-lj.si or info@bunker.si. We’ll be kicking off our meetings already in September!
