WORKSHOP: Our Courtyard

Led by: Members of the prostoRož collective

II. Gimnazija Maribor has been renovated, and part of the new space includes a courtyard behind the school. It has benches, grass, a wooden platform, chairs, plenty of sunshine, and a pleasant breeze—but it doesn’t feel alive. Students rarely use the space or spend time there.
The prostoRož collective knows exactly how to bring spaces like this to life. They are masters of transformation: they turn neglected streets into places of wonder and wish-granting goldfish, abandoned parks into relaxing retreats, and concrete roads into playgrounds for children.
In this workshop, prostoRož will introduce students to inspiring urban design projects and challenge them to envision what they want for their own courtyard. Through a guided process, they will develop their ideas and bring them to life. As part of the Drugajanje festival, this process will begin now and culminate in the spring with the opening of a new courtyard—designed by and for the students, to enjoy both during school and in their free time.

The workshop is open to students of II. Gimnazija Maribor.
