Theater Lighting Design Workshop

Jaka Šimenc is one of the most renowned lighting designers in Slovenia’s theater and contemporary dance scene. He has collaborated with numerous artists—visual artists, directors, choreographers, and artistic collectives—including En-Knap and Iztok Kovač, choreographers Maja Delak, Mala Kline, and Andreja Rauch, as well as directors Dušan Jovanović, Sebastijan Horvat, Barbara Novakovič, and many others.
A true master of light, Jaka Šimenc will introduce participants to the fundamentals of lighting design for theater—from basic lighting setups to subtle accents that create different spaces and atmospheres on stage. This hands-on workshop will allow participants to experiment with various theatrical lighting fixtures and observe their effects firsthand. Additionally, to ensure that lighting setups can be properly documented, the workshop will include an introduction to lighting plots—how to create and use them effectively.
