The Audience Council after the performance FOUR SEASONS
Audience Council is a series of public talks where we discuss performances on the contemporary performance scene.
We invite all audience members to stay with us after the performance for a conversation where the audience has the main say and where we will talk about the performance we watched together – about how we understood the performance and how it touched us.
Audience Council will also take place immediately after the performance of Maciej Kuźmiński: FOUR SEASONS.
The Four Seasons by Polish choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński is a dance performance that thematizes natural cycles and the intertwining of the natural with the cultural. This theme is well known to us from classical art, but how is it established in a modern context? What movement and choreographic means does the performance use to establish the theme? And perhaps even more importantly: does the representation of nature in the performance seem meaningful and consistent with the modern, ecological understanding of nature as biodiversity? Is the performance also critical of the fact that in the past we have often imagined nature as a mere human object and product? Or – if the body is already a part of nature – do we find the performance too mimetic/imitative? Is nature in constant motion, or does it sometimes rest?
The conversation will be led by philosopher and critic Jaka Bombač. You are invited to question and jointly imagine nature!
Partners from the Ljubljana independent scene – the Bunker Institute, the Maska Institute, Via Negativa, the Mesto žensk Association, Glej Theatre, the EnKnap Institute and Moment from Maribor are preparing talks about performances of contemporary independent stage production. The Audience Council is a series of public talks in which we talk about current performances on the contemporary scene and create a space for reflective discussion about what we watched, how we watched and what we saw. The discussions always take place immediately after the performances. The Audience Council in 2025 is led by author and actress Katarina Stegnar, dramaturgue Maša Radi Buh and philosopher and critic Jaka Bombač.
