Name: SOS_SMS
SOS_SMS uses ancient methods of communication via smoke signals to reveal the invisible consumption of telecommunication energy. Overnight, the chimney of the first Ljubljana power plant, a monument of technical heritage, becomes a communication channel which playfully uses smoke to translate the SMS messages sent from viewers into the Morse code characters. The artist NAME: uses the habitat of the Old Power Station, the bearer of a complex and alternative mindset with a sound inscription SVOBODA (freedom) on its wall, to offer a public space as a speaker platform in intervention style speaker platform. What else, in the process of constant communication, can we really communicate at all? Do we dare to communicate more than usual under the guise of anonymity, where the message reveals and at the same time obscures the content as the words become a visual image? Who are we even sending the messages to, and does anybody even hear us?
