Mladi levi | Silvia Calderoni, Ilenia Caleo: TEMPORALE {A LESBIAN TRAGEDY}
performance
(Italy)
In Italian, temporale means a storm, but it also refers to temporality. Somewhere between these two concepts, the experienced Italian artist Silvia Calderoni (also a collaborator with the Motus group, which has performed at the Mladi Levi festival three times) and Ilenia Caleo, performer and researcher, have created an atmospheric performance that eludes a linear narrative, opting instead to speak powerfully through striking images in which we can’t help but recognise ourselves. Atmospheric phenomena travel among neon scenographic elements, flowing into and out of the performers’ bodies, exchanging landscapes and sensations with them. Emotions merge with the weather and vice versa; the fog blurs the distinctions between inside and outside. The volatility of the storm reflects the volatility of the mind and emotions that drive modern-day tragedy. With a touch of humorous distance, emotional shifts and meteorological events become both dramaturgy and climate change – within us, within them, and within the environment. A performance in which heads ignite and bodies melt.
