Mladi levi: MENDING THE INVISIBLE: DANCE AT TABOR
Mending the Invisible is an artistic project conceived by Ivana Müller and Bojana Kunst. At its core, it addresses the ruptures in the invisible urban fabric, proposing symbolic, playful, and imaginative mending actions in response. These actions are continuously marked on a large embroidered map of Ljubljana.
Last year, performative interventions took place around the city and were later narrated in a performance. This year, the repairs have sprung from an attempt to imagine the future as a utopia. In collaboration between Ana Čigon and the residents of the Tabor unit of the Retirement Home Center, drawings were created that intertwine Ljubljana of the future with nature. Meanwhile, the participants of creative writing workshop for people with experience of social or medical transition, mentored by Jedrt Lapuh Maležič, created texts about the future that will be published by the Maska Institute. The creative traces of both groups were carefully sewn onto the map by participants of embroidery workshops, led by a visual artist Petra Korent, creating new commons and symbolically mending another invisibilised strata of the city.
During the Mladi Levi festival, Mending the Invisible will bring the Tabor neighborhood together in a social afternoon in Tabor Park, where we will dance under the tree canopies with the residents of the Retirement Home Center to the rhythms of social dances! No need for jitters! There will be a mini-workshop for all those who have forgotten the basic dance steps held by dancer and choreographer Branko Potočan. Put on your dancing shoes and join us!
