Mladi levi | Karolína Kotrbová: SPONTANEOUS PAUSE AREA

relaxation zone

Festivals are usually marathons of experiences. We rush from a performance to a talk, from a concert to a gathering, from one experience to the next, weaving our way through people, events, and impressions… But what if, in the midst of it all, we just stopped and… nothing more, just stopped.
The Spontaneous Pause Area is an invitation to a different festival rhythm. In the Old Power Station, artist and set designer Karolína Kotrbová will create a place for resting, sitting, observing, daydreaming, and loafing around. A place that demands nothing of you. It doesn’t ask for attention; it gives it back. It doesn’t drain energy – it provides it. A place where you can take a breather from the festival’s pace or the whirlwind of daily struggles for a while. You can stretch out on a lounge chair, chat with strangers, or follow the example of cats, who have known for millennia that rest isn’t a reward for work done, but a part of life.
Karolína Kotrbová is a Czech scenographer, costume designer, and author known for her attention to detail and her sensitivity to materials and objects. Through her set designs, she provides performances with not only a situational but also a formal theatrical framework. This time, she’s creating a temporary refuge for anyone who, amid the festival hubbub, wants a moment for SPA.
