Mladi levi: INTIMATE ORACULAR READING

Take a look at your panties and you will catch a glimpse of the future! In the Intimate Oracular Reading, the future is foretold from the patterns of the vaginal discharge that remain on the underwear. This slightly provocative yet humorous performance for one spectator touches on the taboo surrounding women’s bodies while flirting with traditions of reading patterns in the environment – for example, recognising shapes in clouds or reading from coffee grounds. And although one must face the future with courage, a divination session is only as serious as the individual is willing to allow themselves to be.
The divination practice is accompanied by an exhibition of the best and most beautiful oracles – representations and predictions of the future created using the technique of vaginal discharge on the underpants.
Aline Olmos Steler is a Brazilian performer and theatre maker whose practice explores different marginalities and the concept of the waste – spaces, materials or, in our case, bodily fluids that are often neglected and perceived as disposable. She connects waste and marginality within the context of the female body. She recently completed her studies at the DAS Theatre – Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam. The Intimate Oracular Reading is part of her MA research.
