MLADI LEVI FESTIVAL: PARTY
On 20 August 2004, the 7th Mladi Levi Festival began with the opening of the Old Power Station – the more than a century-old building was given a new mission and content, becoming a rehearsal centre and a venue for contemporary performing arts, a black box theatre.
The opening event was called If We Didn’t Exist, We Would Have To Be Invented, a tribute to the scene that had fought for the space, and an announcement of the programme to come. Over the past twenty years, the Old Power Station has become an important local and international venue, hosting everything from the first artistic experiments to performances by established artists, as well as hosting festivals and occasional music, film and discursive programmes.
In August 2024, the 27th Mladi Levi Festival will end with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Old Power Station; on 31 August we will pay tribute to two decades of work at the Old Power Station, celebrate the closing of the festival and at the same time launch the new, 21st season of the Old Power Station.
PARTY
This year we will start the Mladi Levi Festival in the forest, so we will end it “at home”, on the “home stage” of the last years – the Old Power Station. On the last night, we will tie a bow on the festival, celebrate 20 years of the Old Power Station and dance into a new season, a new decade! And as befits an anniversary, we’ll do it with an echo of the past – just like on the opening night 20 years ago, the music will be provided by former members of the CodeEp collective.
