MLADI LEVI FESTIVAL: Mali Weil: FORESTS: AN EVOCATION
Mali Weil is an Italian artistic collective with a vision to unravel the political imagination. Founded by Elisa Di Liberato, Lorenzo Facchinelli and Mara Ferrieri, the collective uses a multi-layered practice to develop a performative research on ecological and political issues, as well as on the role and responsibility of individuals in social and urban space.
Forests: An Evocation is the first feature film by the collective Mali Weil and is part of the larger project Forests. The docudrama is the culmination of three years of research and study into the forest as a conceptual, legal and political space embedded in the Western imaginations and narratives. The film shows how people have begun to build worlds around forests. Our modern legal and political tools, concepts of legal personhood, private property and the commons were born there. Mystical yet rational, the film is an experience designed for a different way of seeing and dreaming.
