In art, do we allow ourselves to be a little mischievous and not follow the mandate of constant innovation and novelty? Perhaps instead of wondering what the next thing we’ll do will be, we should think about what we already have and what we haven’t yet been able to nurture well enough, or bring to people, or highlight…

At this Discussion Café, we will use a degrowth perspective to reflect on artistic and curatorial practices that resist the logic of endless production. How do we create festivals, projects, and collaborations without constantly chasing the new? How do we build on relationships, continuity, reuse, slowness, and maintenance, and where are the opportunities for disobedience within a system that always demands more, faster, and different from us?

The discussion will invite us to rethink how contemporary art could be organised with less exhaustion and more imagination – not for future growth, but for more sustainable ways of working together.
