Mladi levi: APPLAUSE

Starting point: ŠD Tabor
Ending point: Slovensko mladinsko gledališče

The Old Power Station and the Mladi Levi festival like to spread applause – why should such congratulations and approval be hidden behind four walls?! – through outdoor events, with the paintings Applause and Applause² painted by Toni Soprano Meneglejte on the outside wall of the Old Power Station in 2017 and 2018, and this year with the organised applause campaign by DISCOllective. DISCOllective, perhaps better known to some as Gregor Kamnikar, Norbert Sven Fö, The Only Living Diva or something else, is a master of transformation and improvisation. On the other hand, he is also a skillful creator who involves the audience in his performances without their knowledge. After all, that is why he won the Golden Lightning Award at last year’s Mladi Levi festival.
This year, he will take the festival audience on a walk – not just a walk, but a hymn to beauty! Together we will walk from one venue to the next, crossing the distance in time and space between festival performances, and in between, applauding everything that strikes our fancy. Clapping is, of course, a gesture of approval, but it is also said to have originated as a way of exorcising the ghosts that have inhabited and possessed the performers. Approval, amazement at beauty, enthusiasm, helping to ground someone back to reality… In short, the simple motto of this performative walk could be: Applause for everyone and everything, not just a select few!
