Marc Oosterhoff: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
“Take care of yourself” in a phrase that has gained considerable popularity with the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemics, and we all got tired of it in the familiar contexts. Marc Oosterhoff, Swiss movement artist who is a stranger to the Slovenian audience, has started taking care of himself in a new context and under new rules, somewhere halfway between circus, performance and contemporary dance. In the solo performance Take Care of Yourself, the author voluntarily exposes himself to danger – on stage he is accompanied by knives, mousetraps, whiskey, nicotine, eye cover, and more. Due to the pleasure that the audience takes in witnessing the mischievous tasks brought upon himself by the protagonist, the viewer also feels the performer’s exposure to physical danger on his own body. Take Care of Yourself is a dangerous performance with zero risk.
