Jelena Rusjan: ŠKRIP ORKESTRA

November 23, 2010, at 7:00 PM
II. Gimnazija Maribor, Amphitheater

Škrip Orkestra is the debut work of actress and dancer Jelena Rusjan—a theatrical and musical exploration where dark themes of violence, personal responsibility, and lost childhoods collide with the dynamic aesthetics of noir-kitsch.
Škrip Orkestra is possible
Škrip Orkestra wants chaos
Škrip Orkestra is a mistake
Škrip Orkestra is a little freak
Škrip Orkestra all over the world
Škrip Orkestra every day of the year
It creaks, jumps, and screams
Always chasing its own rhythm

The performance draws inspiration from a wide range of sources—from the dark world of Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman and Andersen’s fairy tales to the playful aesthetic of Tim Burton, folk music, and raw punk energy. As part of the project, a musical ensemble was formed, yet its theatrical roots remain undeniable. On stage, the performers, through stories of abused and tormented children, ultimately present themselves.
