Dragana Alfirević: Unfinished Symphony

Lecture Performance

Unfinished Symphony will present the outcomes and current state of the project, highlighting various dimensions of dance work centered on kinesthetic empathy. The event will be structured as an interweaving of different media and methods of transmitting knowledge and experience. At its core, the project is driven by the questions: “What dances within us when we dance?” and “What in the spectator observes the dance?”
Franco “Bifo” Berardi argues that our lives are entirely subordinated to the economic logic of action and existence—that we have sent not only our bodies and minds to work, but also our souls. In this framework, our attention is channeled and directed, both inward and outward. Bifo states: “A new conceptualization of humanism must be based on an aesthetic paradigm, as it must be rooted in sensitization.”
The multi-year MAGIC project, within which this lecture performance is taking place, offers a practical investigation into modes of perception as a shift in the aesthetic paradigm, proposing a vision of the world in which perception itself becomes a form of action.
