City of Women: The Weight of Soul – Everything is Temporary
The show The Weight of the Soul-Everything is Temporary, with innovative stage language, speaks of fear, pronunciation and self-confidence, fragile features, signs and meanings. It is about threads and a thin line that connects our impulses with our rationality. Chiara Marchese combines circus and puppetry. In The Weight of the Soul-Everything is Temporary, she reinvents her own apparatus – the slack wire – to make it interact with a human-sized puppet, made of intertwined narrow strings. This performance shakes up the sensations of the spectator who questions their interior and their way of conceiving the concepts of the “ironic”, the “catastrophic”, the “autobiographical”, just like their own sensitivity to a naked body which does not want to talk about sexuality, if not transparency and generosity; in tandem with the puppet which reflects its opposites, in matter, materials, colour, presence and absence alternately.
