Policy Lab, a research organisation, creates space for ideas, practices, and policy alternatives that explore pathways beyond an economy of perpetual growth. Instead, it asks a different question: How can we live well without exhausting people and the planet?

Pistotnik from Policy Lab will introduce Doughnut Economics, a model that offers a new perspective on development, well-being, and social priorities—one that moves beyond the paradigm in which continuous economic growth and accumulation are the primary measures of progress.

The model draws on the simple yet powerful image of a doughnut with a hole in the middle, inviting us to imagine a safe and just space between the social foundation and the ecological ceiling. It is within this space that communities, organisations, and individuals can thrive in ways that are both sustainable and equitable.
