Practical Production Workshop: The Complaints Choir of II. Gymnasium Maribor

The Complaints Choir is one of the most popular global projects, having spread from Finland to all corners of the world in just two years—from Alaska to Australia, from Canada to Korea! Slovenia joined the international network of choirs this year, first with the Ljubljana Complaints Choir and recently with the Maribor choir Jamrjamrjamr, led by Jure Ivanušič and Marko Vezovišek.

In this workshop, we will take on the challenge of establishing a professional complaints choir, officially putting II. Gymnasium Maribor on the global complaints-singing map.

This workshop is open to students of II. Gymnasium Maribor, as well as to aspiring producers and cultural managers. You will gain hands-on experience in planning, decision-making, organizing, and attracting participants, audiences, and media!

The production team of the Complaints Choir of II. Gymnasium Maribor will meet for the first time on November 17, 2008, at 14:00 in the school lobby, where you will be introduced to the full scope of the project. Then, the action begins!

The public performances of the Complaints Choir of II. Gymnasium Maribor will take place on Thursday, November 27, 2008:

•10:15 in front of II. Gymnasium Maribor

•13:00 in front of I. Gymnasium Maribor

•13:30 at Grajski trg, Maribor

The workshop will be led by Katarina Slukan, a long-time collaborator of the Bunker Institute. Having been involved in the production of the Complaints Choir project multiple times, she is undoubtedly one of the most experienced mentors in leading participatory projects.
