25th International Festival MLADI LEVI
August 19 – 27, 2022
Old Power Station & other locations in Ljubljana
With the 25th jubilee edition of the MLADI LEVI FESTIVAL 2022 we continue with presenting inspiring international and Slovene artists, with traditions and their modernizations, a down-to-earth and experimental approach, prepared this year by an intergenerational curatorial team.
This year’s program is geographically dispersed, with artists from Thailand (Wichaya Artamat), Chile (Ébana Garín, Luis Guenel), Mexico (Daniel Alberto Victoria), Serbia (Škart, Bojana Robinson), Croatia (Siniša Labrović), Italy (Alessandro Sciarroni) , Germany (Julian Hetzel), Belgium (Dag Taeldeman & Andrew Van Ostade, Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere) and Slovenia (Katja Legin, Neja Tomšič, Tanja Radež & Nada Žgank, Petra Varl, Jaka Železnikar), but all of them touch on fragility of boundaries between fiction and reality, between one-time encounters and community, between artistic practices and legacies.
The festival is not only performances, but also talks (Debate Café: On Art and the Future), a crossroads and a meeting place of international networks and projects (Create to Connect -> Create to Impact, Stronger Peripheries: Southern Coalition). The festival is rounded off by a devised theatre workshop (led by Sodja Lotker), a workshop for young critical writers in collaboration with Radio Študent and the Ana Monro Theatre, and an international meeting and exchange of practices of young curators from Slovenia and Great Britain.
The 25th Mladi Levi Festival will be opened with a traditional party at the beautiful courtyard of the Sports Society at park Tabor!
