Performing Gender – Dance Makes Differences

October 13, 2017 6:30 pm

Performing Gender – Dance makes differences is a two-year European Cooperation Project between Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Netherlands and England. It investigates gender and dance, and provides skills useful to develop new forms of narrative for LGBTIQ identities in Europe. Five international makers and five dramaturgs will train, research, exchange and create within different local communities, and cultural and social environments. The first Training Week, hosting the five makers and the local dramaturge is taking place at City of Women Festival from 7th to 13th October.

On the last day of the training week, the international makers will share the process and their first sketches with the audience.

City Of Networks

October 13, 2017
10:00 am - 6:00 pm

The networking of local, regional, and international feminist and LGBTIQ groups working in culture is going to start off with brief presentations of specific socio-political contexts that affect their respective thematic focuses and working methods. If political art speaks the unspeakable, envisions the unseen, how do they, as initiators and producers, navigate between the Scylla and Charybdis of institutionalisation and capitalisation of both art and gender politics?

Discussions’ Moderator: Tea Hvala

Contributors: Cultural Gender Practices Network (SI/HR/RS/BA/MK), Nordijc/Baltic Queer Art Network (Dk), Gender Bender / Il Cassero (IT)

The discussion will be in English.
